Ruona Phido

O Ogheneruona Frances Phido is a Health and Safety professional with a multidisciplinary background spanning occupational health and safety, communications, sustainability, project management, and business strategy. She has experience supporting health and safety programs across industrial and workplace environments, with exposure to hazard identification and risk assessment, incident investigation, workplace inspections, safety training, emergency preparedness, WHMIS, lockout/tagout, ergonomics, heat stress, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, and joint health and safety committee activities. She is passionate about building proactive safety cultures and practical systems that help organizations protect their people while strengthening operational performance.

Prior to transitioning into Health and Safety, Ruona built a career in communications and consulting, working across sustainability communications, corporate communications, research and analysis, branding, business development, project management, public relations, content development, and digital marketing. She has contributed to consulting, research, and branding projects for organizations across Nigeria and West Africa. She holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness from Conestoga College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Media and Society from the University of Leicester, UK, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Wales, UK. She is also a Project Management Professional (PMP). Ruona is particularly interested in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, sustainability, environmental responsibility, and the development of resilient, people-centered workplaces. Her long-term goal is to contribute to organizations where safety is embedded into culture, leadership, and everyday decision-making.
